'Gossip Girl's' Blake Lively: 'I grew up at Disneyland'
"Gossip Girl" star Blake Lively is gracing the cover of this month's Marie Claire -- she talks about being Southern in Los Angeles, early acting classes and growing up at Disneyland.
Do you think of yourself as Southern, even though you grew up in L.A.? I think there's a Southern girl lurking in you.
I grew up in L.A., but I was the only one in my family born there. I have a tight-knit Southern family, so whenever I tell people I'm from L.A., they say, "Yeah, but you don't count," I guess because of the Southern values I was raised with, and the way I eat--the more sugary and cheesy and fried, the better.
Did you ever study acting?
Well, my parents taught an acting class when I was growing up, and because I never had a babysitter, I would end up at them. When I got older, I knew all the drills so well that I felt fine getting up on stage. Without them, I'd still probably be hiding under my mom's skirt.

Blake Lively Says No to Dieting
The “Gossip Girl” star eats what she wants and admits she doesn’t exercise.
Blake Lively is revealing her fitness regiment, or lack thereof. In the August issue of UK Glamour magazine, Lively claims that she doesn't do much to stay in shape. "I have never worked out, but I know you feel better when you do," Lively told UK Glamour. "So I am planning on getting a trainer."
However, the "Gossip Girl" star, 21, admits that before she dons a revealing outfit, she tends to feel uneasy. "I do panic before I have to wear a really skimpy outfit, but I don't have enough willpower," Lively said.
Unlike many Hollywood starlets, Lively doesn't adhere to a strict diet regiment of any sort. "I had to do a scene in a bra and shorts for the first time in two years and on the day of the shoot, I ate a pork burrito, chips and coke. Afterwards, I thought, 'I probably shouldn't have done that.' But whatever," Lively said.

Blake Lively 'poisoned Gossip cast against co-star'
Gossip Girl star Blake Lively has admitted that she "poisoned" her fellow castmates against co-star Penn Badgley.
The actress, who plays Serena Van Der Woodsen in the drama, told Glamour that she was "so upset" to learn that Badgley had been hired for the role of her on-screen boyfriend.
"At first I was so upset that they hired him. I actually poisoned the whole cast against him," she explained.
"But then they noticed that he was not a jerk and was actually a really nice, charming person. Almost immediately I realised that too, but it took me about a week to admit it."
Lively and Badgley, who are dating in real life, first met when the actress was just 11-years-old.

Lively wants Pitt for 'Gossip' father (SPOILER WARNING)
Blake Lively has admitted that she wants Brad Pitt to play her on-screen father.
The actress, who stars as Serena van der Woodsen in The CW's Gossip Girl, told E! Online that the Inglourious Basterds actor would be more than welcome in filling the role.
Connor Paolo (Serena's brother Eric) added: "We've been asking since day one who daddy dearest is, so it'll be good to find out. I'd say Christopher Walken could make a great dad. I think he'd be a great papa van der Woodsen. I think [his and Lily's] dynamic would be awesome. I'll push that one. Or maybe Jack Nicholson."
In the season two finale, Serena was seen heading off in search of her father, who has never been seen on screen. He is expected to make an appearance when the series returns in the Fall.

LIVELY'S COLLEGE FEARS
GOSSIP GIRL star BLAKE LIVELY fears she will never fulfil her ambition to go to university - because her acting career has taken over her life.
The 21 year old always dreamed of attending America's prestigious Stanford institution, but she was sidetracked by her elder brother Eric who persuaded her to try acting during her final years at high school.
Lively, who comes from a family of actors, admits she never wanted to go into the entertainment business in the first place.
She says, "(Becoming an actress) was the last thing I wanted to do. Because it was like the family business. It didn't seem like this grand, wonderful Hollywood thing - it was just what my family did. So I worked my whole life to go to Stanford."
Lively still hopes to complete her education one day - but fears her commitments to Gossip Girl means she will be too busy to even consider taking a break from acting.
She adds, "I wouldn't try to study anything to pursue a different profession. I would just want to become more educated.
"But it (her career) hasn't died down since the first season (of Gossip Girl). It's just got busier and crazier. And we shoot nine months out of the year. You don't have much time to yourself so there are lots of things I can't do."

Blake Lively 'like Jessica Lange'
Blake Lively has been compared to a young Jessica Lange by writer and director Rebecca Miller.
Gossip Girl star Blake appears in forthcoming movie The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee as the young version of the title character, and the film's director said she wouldn't be surprised if Blake went on to be the next big thing.
Rebecca said: "I don't want to compare her to anyone else because she has her own qualities but there's something about the young Jessica Lange in Blake, with a lot of sensuality and beauty but they are also really substantive actresses."
She continued: "Blake is also very intelligent. So she has this sweetness and an intelligence and a backbone, and a very strong work ethic which I really appreciate because I don't like it when people don't have that.
"And she absolutely held her own - there she was with Alan Arkin, he left that set saying 'this is the best cast film I've done in my life'."
